  • Clif Shot Blocks (usually black cherry)
    • Flavor is fine. I find them easier to stomach than the gooey gels. Each package has 6 gummy squares. I liek to pop 2-3 per 45-60 minutes. Black Cherry has caffeine, which provides a nice little perk.
  • Salt Stick electrolyte capsules
    • I learned by hard experience that if I am sweating for an hour+, my leg muscles start to severely cramp. By popping one of these every hour or so, I haven’t had a cramp since!
  • Hammer Energy Gels 
    • I have tried a lot of gels, and the texture of these is among the least offensive.  Also, the MAPLE BACON flavor is pretty great!
  • GU Energy Gels
    • I occasionally pop one of these on my way to a trailhead. They are easier to find in stores than Hammer and do the trick. The texture is sticky though – tough to muscle down sometimes.
