Slide Canyon

Slide Canyon

I have been scheming for a long time to get up on the south end of the Timpanogos Massif ridgeline via Provo Canyon. The most common route is via Slide Canyon. This was my first time up there. A shwhack for a lot of it, but gorgeous. I hit a headwall, was running out of time, and didn’t see an obvious way around. After looking at the map when I got home I figured out the way around (to the right) I should have taken. Just after that headwall/waterfall there is a scree slope up to the right that gets you on the ridge that takes you to the top of Sundance. I’ll be back…

Looking up from Provo Canyon Rd.
Looking down across Provo Canyon to the north end of the Cascade Massif
Hollowed out mote in front of the waterfall and headwall I didn’t make it around
Looking down canyon from inside a small cave
Nice little fall cascading out of a spring up the side of the canyon, left travertine-like deposits
